On the fourth dayy we started to edit our film. The programme was very hard for me as it was all in chinese which is a shame because it limited my contribution to my group, and I would have been a valuable addition as I do a lot of film editing in england with my friends. My leader was getting worried because I wasn't getting involved enough...and i'm too shy and withdrawn...seriously, you wouldn't believe it seeing me at school...I'm like the hyper spastic one :P haha. ok back to the camp.
After ANOTHER lecture (how many lectures have I had so far?!) we were told to look in our books and there were two pages of information about the mcdonalds restaurant in the university and how it was not environmentally friendly, and another article about the distribution of dorms between students and how there weren't enough. It would have been fun if it WAS IN ENGLISH. Please, I'm begging you, if any camp leader is reading this (which i hope you aren't.) CAN YOU MAKE AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION cause i'm a BBC and proud of it but i can't read that much chinese and the camp would have been a lot more meaningful and memorable if there were english translations for everything. Ok I'm done with that, thanks for reading :)
In the evening we had a party- all the camp leaders danced and shouted like wild animals and all the little kids were joining in while my group were just standing on the side going like :/ There was one camp leader with a fringe going bright red and really getting into it, shouting and jabbing people with her fingers. I was surprised with her energy-after about 10 repeats of the same song she still was like XD haha. woww :) x
We had two lectures today...I know, sounds like fun. The biometrics one was soooo boring. All I learnt was that it had something to do with fingerprints and identification of people...? But the second one was more interesting, it talked about radio chips and how they can be used in our everyday lives to make life easier. For instance, there was a fridge which toldyou when what was going to expire, recipes, shopping list....O.o i wish i had a fridge like that... :P
After lunch we went to the RTHK "site" which didn't take two minutes to look around...all i saw was rooms with microphones and speakers in. We had another lecture about tv programmes RTHK does (which i fell asleep in :/ ) but probably the coolest part of the trip was that we got a folder each "for school" at the end (probably as a compromise for walking round an uninteresting building.)
We started to think about our films and in the end settled for a story based on famous hk tv adverts. Because i come from london, i can't really relate to this but I played along anyway. We watched their youtube clips and assigned each other jobs: director, producer etc.
In the evening we had a lecture about constellations ALL IN FRIGGIN CHINESE which was boring (this is a camp, not a school incase you're wondering) and then used telescopes and binoculars to look for them but it was too cloudy and we could only see the north star very very faintly and then we couldnt see it at all and we had to go back and i was sad :( Our "stargazing" activity was an epic FAIL because all we could see was the moon and the guy's laser for pointing out the stars didn't even work properly. Oh well.
On the first day we did nothing related to Web TV, but had two competitions building catapults out of chopsticks, rubber bands and a plastic spoon. one competition was which catapult could fling a ping pong ball the furthest and the other was how accurately it could throw...yeah. and that was probably the most exciting part of the day.
We then had dinner and then did an activity in the evening going round campus and doing tasks at certain checkpoints- most were taking photos of us jumping/pulling faces looking a bit stupid. we had to hold hands wherever we went, forming a huge human snake. Then we went to bed.
And that was the end of the first day...exciting, right? :P
